Hi, please try to remove the microSD card from your Nokia Lumia 520, then use the memory card reader to read from your computer. Hopefully you can read the content from your computer. Do not do format when the card reader at computer ask to do that, because this is the notification for us the the MicroSD also can not read from computer. I factory reset my Lumia 520 a week ago. Up to now it never completed the process. The power goes off and I keep on charging from time to time but it has not stopped to hard reset. This time I have left it connected to power for more than 18 hours and still in progress. How long do I suppose to wait for it to complete? Hi, usually at normal situations, doing hard reset or master format using hardware button will not take more than 5 minutes, unless if your Nokia Lumia 520 have other problems like hardware or some other problems. If you have done hard reset using software menu, then now you should try to do again hard reset using hardware button like steps at #option 2 above, but plese make sure your battery is full before doing hard reset. The total time is not more then 10 minutes from beginning until finish.

Hi, my phone didn't previously have a pin or password so the fact that it is saying that I have to wait so many hours before attempting to try again is really annoying because my phone hasn't been touched by anyone, and I haven't put a code on it.
I know its a phone issue and not a sim issue btw. I tried the things you have suggested and it only added more time. I tried with the back case off and with it on (in case the buttons weren't working properly). After the (!) shows on the screen I press vol up, vol down, power, vol down. I just get taken to the normal screen once the phone turns on and it says 5641 minutes.. grrrrrr!
